2.2 litre, 4-cylinder Common Rail Turbo Diesel engine
6-speed manual transmission
Only available with Petrol engine
6-speed automatic transmission with Active Select
Two Wheel Drive (2WD)
Active All Wheel Drive (AWD)
The All Wheel Drive system is 'Active Torque On Demand'. An electronically controlled electro-hydraulic differential ensures the best possible torque distribution between the front and rear axles. As driving conditions dictate, the rear axle is employed via an electronically controlled electro-magnetic coupling to give increased traction. The torque split ratio between front and rear wheels is variable in real time depending on the driving conditions
Only available with Diesel engine
Control and Handling
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
ESC constantly compares the vehicle's movements with the steering wheel angle to determine if the vehicle is moving in the direction you intend. If skidding appears imminent, ESC applies brake pressure to individual wheels as appropriate and, if necessary, trims engine power. This dramatically increases turning and cornering safety, especially in 'evasive action' situations.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
If wheel `lock up' is detected under forceful braking, ABS momentarily reduces brake pressure at the affected wheel. This improves braking efficiency - reducing stopping distances on most surfaces - and helps maintain steering control to ensure the vehicle remains directionally stable.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
When a vehicle brakes, weight transfers to the front wheels. By regulating the brakeforce applied to each wheel, EBD ensures optimal balance between front and rear brakes, which helps minimise stopping distances.
Traction Control System (TCS)
Designed to minimise slippage during acceleration, TCS recognises if either rear wheel has insufficient grip and adjusts drive force and brakeforce accordingly. It reduces wheelspin when accelerating on wet and icy roads, and also in 'split' conditions, such as when a vehicle has two wheels on bitumen and two on a gravel verge.
Brake Assist (BA)
In emergency braking situations, few drivers actually press the brake pedal firmly enough to achieve maximum braking performance. Brake Assist is designed to sense how fast you press the brake pedal in an emergency, and maximise braking pressure to optimise braking performance.
Active Rollover Protection (ARP)
Should it detect excessive body roll during cornering or a lane change, ARP applies braking to each wheel as required, with extra brake force directed to those wheels with the most grip. The vehicleżs speed reduces, and with it, the amount of roll.
Descent Control System (DCS)
Utilises the active braking capability of the ESC to maintain a controlled speed when travelling down hill
Hill Start Assist
Hill Start Assist prevents the car from rolling away when trying to pull away on an upward or downward gradient. The system engages automatically when a gradient is detected; it then acts to hold the car stationary after the brake is released giving the driver time to apply the throttle.
17" alloy wheels (4)
17" x 7" 5 spoke alloy wheels come standard on Captiva 5 models.
16" x 6.5" steel spare wheel
Front fog lamps
Front fog lamps are standard on Captiva 5 and provide greater visibility for night time driving.
Side fender vents
Striking fender vents subtly add extra impact to an already stunning design.
Satin silver roof rails
Roof rails let you carry luggage and sporting equipment without sacrificing interior space.
Power side mirrors
Adjustment of exterior mirrors can be made from within your Captiva.
Silver decorative skid plates, front and rear
Body coloured exterior door handles
Full cloth seat trim
5 seat capacity
Adjustable driver and front passenger seats
Fold-flat rear seats
Cruise Control maintains your pre-set vehicle speed without pressure on the accelerator.
Front and rear park assist
Captiva 5 has your safety covered with active and passive safety features. Front and Rear Park Assist with audible warnings allows you to confidently park in tight spaces.
Steering wheel with height and reach adjust
Leather wrap steering wheel
It's an easy climb to get into the driver's seat, but the views from the Captiva are breathtaking. Right in front of you - steering comfort at your fingertips.
Driver information display
Outside temperature display
Automatic headlamp mode
This feature allows the headlamps and park lamps to automatically switch on and off according to ambient light.
Audible warning if headlamps left on
Steering wheel mounted audio controls
AM/FM stereo electronic tune radio with 7 speakers
6-disc CD audio system
Air conditioning with automatic climate control
Power windows with auto up/down feature (front and rear)
Standard front and rear power windows all with Express down and up.
Driver & passenger visors with vanity mirror, illuminated with cover
12 volt power outlets
Positioned in front, 2nd row and cargo area
Multi-purpose centre console compartment with armrest
Rear centre armrest
Houses 2 cup holders and a small storage compartment
Front reading lamps
Pyrotechnic front seatbelt pretensioners
When an impact of sufficient severity is detected, small explosive charges force the front seat belt anchors downwards. This tightens the seatbelts and helps hold both the driver and front passenger firmly against their seats.
Front seatbelt sash height adjust
Driver and front passenger airbags
Driver and front passenger airbags will only inflate if the car is involved in certain severe frontal collisions. Airbags form part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) as they assist, but do not replace, safety offered by seat belts.
Side curtain airbags
Curtain airbags provide head and upper body protection for front seat occupants and left and right second row passengers in certain side-on collisions.
Side impact airbags for driver and front passenger
Rear seat child restraint anchor points
A standard child seat latching system is provided at each rear outboard seating position designed to secure child safety seats in any of the three rear seating positions.
Audible warning if key left in ignition & driver's door opened to exit
A reminder that keys are still in the ignition before leaving your vehicle.
